The Social Principles

One of the great treasures of our Methodist Heritage is our Social Creed and Social Principles. Here our church states its beliefs in terms of how we interact with each other and the world. Sunday, April 22nd, is Earth Day. As Christians, we have serious responsibilities regarding the care of creation. Check out the "Natural World" section of the Social Principles and see what we believe about the stewardship of the earth.

The Burned-Over District

The area of Central and Western New York is called the Burned-Over District. In the first half of the 19th century, the country experienced a religious revival that is called the Second Great Awakening. Western New York was covered with the remnants of the bonfires of countless camp meetings and preaching festivals. Pray for those days to come again! Come, Holy Spirit, come!
